Peer Review

Peer review in and of itself is burdensome, but required.  At this point I have a staff member pull charts approximately 5% from each physician for the quarter.  We then have the nurses do a chart review for content on the nurses documentation, then anesthesia peer reviews for the the anesthesia portion and then it goes to the MD's.  The Md's get the form that shows the chart has already been checked by nurses and anesthesia.  They have 4 items they check on the MD portion and initial.  So I am given 1 sheet for each chart that has been reviewed by 3 people.
The pt's that have a change from normal care, are reviewed as well, but with a different format.  These go to Medical Advisory Committee.
